What is the Foundation?
The Sope Creek Elementary School Foundation, established in 1996, is a 501c(3) tax deductable organization, dedicated to supporting the mission and educational goals of both Sope Creek and the Cobb County School System.
The mission of the Sope Creek Elementary School Foundation is to raise money and provide resources, beyond those provided by the Cobb County School District or PTA that benefits all students at Sope Creek.
Who is on the Foundation?
The Foundation is governed by a Board of no more than 18 members. The board is comprised of the school principal, the Teacher of the Year, a sitting PTA President, with the remainder made up primarily of parents of Sope Creek Students and community members. Board members are nominated and voted on by the Board each spring. In general, each board member serves a two year term.
Can anyone be on the Foundation?
YES!!
If you are interested in serving on the Foundation, contact one of the Co-Presidents: Vicki Marks, vlmarks@hotmail.com or Regina Wood, knockingonwood@comcast.net. They would love to get you plugged in to helping with a committee THIS year! It takes our entire parent body to assist with the Foundation. In essence, we are all “members.” The Foundation Board illicits volunteer help from all parents throughout the year.
Who provides funding for the Foundation?
YOU DO!
Your support of the Sope Creek Foundation has allowed the Foundation to provide the very best educational experiences for our children. All funding for the foundation is provided through our Sope Creek Parents and foundation partners. Last year alone, the Foundation raised approximately $65k. All of the money that is raised through our Foundation stays at Sope Creek to provide resources and experiences for our students and faculty.
