“FAST”

Foundation After School Time
After School Enrichment Program

In 2007, as the need for additional after school programming was increasing at Sope Creek, the Foundation responded by starting the facilitation of after school enrichment programs. Working with the administrative staff, the ASP staff, teachers, parents and outside vendors, the Foundation was able to respond to our growing need for enriching after school experiences beyond what the county was able to provide. This programming has continued to develop and grow in response to the needs of our students and parents.  Through the years, we have been able to partner with outside organizations and offer a plethora of learning experiences for our children, ranging from Art to Yoga to chess and foreign language. By partnering with outside organizations, the Foundation is able to facilitate these organizations in our school, while also raising money that goes right back to our students. Last year alone, the Foundation was able to raise approximately $12,000 from the funds generated through the partnerships of our after school vendors.

This year’s current offerings are on Monday and Thursday:

  Chess and Art

Why aren’t we having more after school enrichment

offerings this year?

While the need for FAST continues to grow hear at the Creek, the Foundation, in conjunction with the Administration, has decided to limit the offerings of FAST during the 2011-12 school year. Due to the construction that will be occurring during this upcoming school year, we feel the safety of our students is paramount. Limited physical space will be available due to the construction and consequently, our after school enrichment programs will be limited during this upcoming year. However, the Foundation, along with the administration, looks forward to bringing back our programming in the 2012-2013 year.

Our offerings for this school year will be limited to 1st-5th graders. All programming will begin after Labor Day and limited to Art and Chess.
