The Sope Creek Elementary School Annual Fun Run is the primary fundraising event for the Foundation. The annual Fun Run occurs in the spring of each year. It incorporates a 1 mile fun run with a 5k run that both Sope Creek Families as well as community runners can easily participate in. The 1 mile fun run occurs on the campus of Sope Creek while the 5K is a pleasant to somewhat strenuous run through portions of Sibley Forest and Old Paper Mill.
Properly themed, the FUN run is just that. It is an opportunity for all Sope Creek students to participate in a run that raises funds via registrations and support of our community vendors. The Fun Run encompasses a morning of fellowship for families supportive of our school. From coffee to chicken biscuits to fabulous raffle items, kids of all ages can find something fun to catch their attention. Vendors come out and set up booths, while parents bid on fabulous baskets in our basket auction area and a DJ is on hand to announce the fun and play music. It is truly fun for runners and non runners alike!
Each year, the Fun Run alone, not including our basket auction, raises over $20k. After expenses and prizes, the Foundation clears right around $16k of the proceeds to be put right back in our school!
