Special Projects
Board Chair: Tamara Karrh, tdkarrh@bellsouth.net
Every few years, the Foundation will come across a special project that seems to fit the needs of our students, the desires of our parents and the mission of our board. As these projects arise, the Board undergoes a discussion regarding if the project will fit into the overall goals and mission of the Foundation. Once the Board decides that the project is a good fit then a capital campaign is launched. The funds raised from the capital campaign will then go to solely fund the given project.
To date, the most successful capital campaign that the Foundation has undertaken is that of the Smart Boards. This campaign, launched back in 2007-2008, raised right at $100k. It ultimately placed a smart board into every classroom in Sope Creek. At the time this project was launched, smart board technology was only found in the upper tier of private schools. This forward thinking is indicative of how our Sope Creek Foundation is providing resources, beyond those provided by the Cobb County School District.
Be on the lookout. Another capital endeavor is headed our way!
