Class Descriptions:
Advanced Watercolor Painting
Join Ms. Keesee, Sope Creek’s art teacher, for painting fun in Advanced Watercolor. In this class, students will learn techniques and skills not covered in school day classes. Every week, students will make a new watercolor painting, experimenting with different techniques and styles. Supplies students will receive as a part of this class are as follows: 1. A watercolor paper pad, 2. Watercolor paints, 3. A water pen and brush, and 4. A small pouch to keep all their supplies in. All of these items are theirs to keep after the class ends!
American Girl Doll Club
Make and take doll crafts home! Students will explore, through dolls, what it was like to be an American Girl in different times and places throughout history. Each week students will participate in an activity that reflects the historical theme of the week and of course play with American Girl Dolls! Students are welcome to bring their own dolls, but dolls and accessories will be provided for play during class as well.
Art Smart
Does your child love art or want to improve their art skills? The purpose of Art Smart is to provide your student an opportunity to explore art through directed drawing and different art mediums. Art Smart helps to develop motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and has a large impact on their social and emotional growth. It also enhances their creativity and love of art! Weekly artwork will be taken home each week. Each participant will receive an Art Smart bag of supplies.
Brick Builders
Does your child enjoy building with Legos? In Brick Builders they will have fun with minute to win it challenges and other lessons using Legos. Some benefits from children working with Legos are problem solving skills, learning how to plan, teamwork, as well as spatial awareness. Your child can work on all these skills and many others while having fun and being creative!
Canvas Kids and Cookies
Join us for a fun and inspiring FAST class where creativity knows no limits! We will learn painting techniques, color palettes, and the principles of design. Each child will produce five colorful canvas paintings they can proudly display at home! During each class, students will be provided a sweet treat and enjoy socializing with friends. Join us for Canvas Kids and Cookies to take chances, make new friends, and get messy! 😊
Cardio Sharp & Cardio Sharp Jr.
Physically fit students perform better academically, behave better at school and home, and are simply more comfortable in their own skin. While we know the roles diet, homework, and sleep play in ‘powering up’ a student’s ‘network’ for the classroom, the last 20 years of scientific research has revealed a new, major player in the ‘ready‐to‐learn’ domain – cardiovascular fitness. Cardio Sharp is driven by this relationship between enthusiastic, vigorous play and cognitive and behavioral development. Modified games, sports, and challenges equip students with exciting, efficient tools for realizing the promises of cardiovascular conditioning. Cheer and Crafts
Cheer and Crafts is a dynamic and energetic FAST class where your child can learn the art of cheerleading in a fun and supportive setting. This class will teach students the fundamentals of cheerleading, including dance routines and chants, all while promoting teamwork, confidence, and physical fitness. Beyond cheer, this class will foster friendships, leadership skills, and a strong sense of community among kids. We will have fun making a new craft each week and focus on character traits to help students gain self-confidence. Join our Sope Creek Cheer Team where we will build character, stay active, and make friends together!
Club Disney
Everything Disney! This club will be entertaining and involve all things Disney. Activities will include character crafts, trivia, Karaoke, dance party, role playing, and much more. Join Club Disney with your friends and enjoy Disney-themed snacks too!
Crafty Kids
Do you love to make things with your hands, use your imagination, and get creative? Come join Crafty Kids! We’ll be painting, gluing, folding, and building all kinds of fun projects together. Open to all students who enjoy art, crafts, and having fun with friends.
Everything Dog
Do you love dogs? Come join in on the fun and let's learn about everything dog. From jobs, behaviors, diet, training, and more, come learn about everything dog.
Hip Hop Homies
Does your child like to move and groove? Do they have trouble sitting still when music starts to play? If so, Hip Hop Homies is the class for them! In this class students will be learning different hip hop moves, stretches and terminology! Students will have fun dancing to some of the radio's top (school appropriate) hits. Join us and become one of our homies! Class t-shirt included.
Jewelry and Keychain Making
Students will use materials in class to create bracelets, necklaces, or keychains while in class. They will make as many as they want but need to make sure they get as close to finishing as they can. Your child will need to know how to tie knots since this a skill they will need in order to make their creations. They will come home each day with different things they have made.
Karate Kids
Through the Karate Kids program, your child will learn the basics of traditional Karate including punches, kicks, blocks, self-defense, cardio training and forms. This program is sure to enhance your students level of focus, discipline, respect and self-confidence. We will also focus on topics such as anti-bullying, building self-esteem, creating a positive mindset, and becoming a lifelong learner. Ms. Smith is a third degree black belt, a World Champion competitor in traditional forms and fighting and has over 25 years experience training in martial arts and teaching children. She has competed in Switzerland, Canada, and across the US in karate tournaments. For a fun afternoon of karate training join Karate Kids today! Karate Kids classes vary from semester to semester. If your student has been enrolled previously, they will continue their training as well as learn new techniques! We will be studying Japanese, Yoshukai Karate. All students should wear comfortable clothing and sneakers for class. Be sure to sign up quickly so you don’t miss out!
Keyology
Why learn to play piano? Playing piano improves cognitive development, academic skills and coordination, language skills and literacy. Playing Piano is a major stress reducer and makes a big impact on one's health. This course will concentrate on developing student musicality while developing social skills at the same time. As students learns from each other they develop confidence about performing in front of others. They stimulate each other's practice. Students learn how to read notes, play simple songs, write and create musician connection with music concepts, theory and history of music. Each student will be provided with an individual keyboard and headphones. Repertoire and instruction are different based on student performance level. About teacher: Ms. Eristavi completed a master's in musical education and is proficient in piano and accordion.
Kindness Krew
Join the Kindness Krew after school to help spread joy and kindness throughout Sope Creek and beyond! In this club, we’ll discover how small acts of kindness can have a big impact. Each week, we’ll create and participate in fun activities like creating and hiding kindness bookmarks in library books with encouraging messages for others to find. We’ll also make cards, write letters to classmates, school staff, and even pen pals from other classes or local community partners like nursing homes - and so much more! The Kindness Krew is all about understanding the importance of spreading kindness and how our actions can inspire others, even at an elementary age. By working together, we’ll create a positive ripple effect—making Sope Creek a place where everyone feels appreciated and valued, showing that small gestures can truly make a big difference in our community!
Lab Rats
Joining the Lab Rats Science Club is an opportunity you don't want to miss! Imagine a world where you get to uncover the hidden secrets of nature, conduct jaw-dropping experiments, and embark on thrilling scientific adventures with friends. You'll become a real-life scientist, solve fascinating mysteries, and have tons of fun along the way. It's not just learning, it's a journey filled with excitement and endless possibilities! **Price includes safety goggles and all experiment supplies.
Movie Club Matinee
Movie Club is a fun interactive club. Students watch age-appropriate clips and use the skills they learn to create and critique films and shorts. Students will learn camera handling, audio recording, image composition, video editing, film critiquing, and screenwriting. Students will make their own mini movie. Join Movie Club Matinee with your friends and enjoy movie snacks too!
Photography Club
In Photography Club, Ms. Keesee, Sope Creek’s art teacher, will help students hone their visual eye! Using Polaroid cameras, each week students will be sent off on a mission to find the best shot considering a theme and fun challenges. With their developed photos, they will make a scrapbook detailing their photogenic journey! Their scrapbooks/photo albums will be there’s to keep! Let’s make some memories together! *Polaroid cameras will be available for use.
Scene Stealers
Do you have a flair for the dramatic? Do you like to act? Then join the Scene Stealers! Each week, you will develop skills in acting and improvisation. Let your creativity soar as you use your imagination to react and respond to your scene partners. Not only will you learn how to think on your feet, you will also hone your critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills. You'll end up in stitches as you watch fellow comedians act it out, so come break a leg and discover what characters you can pretend to be!
Slime Scientists
Slime, Oobleck, Play-Doh, Silly Putty, Flubber and more. Each week a new discovery. Students will be learning about chemistry and physics while we use the scientific process to make and analyze slime and other substances. This class offers hands-on science and sensory play that both boys and girls will love!
Soccer Stars
Soccer Stars is the perfect place for your aspiring soccer player! This beginning level club will focus on all the basics. Dribbling, shooting, trapping, scrimmage games, athletic conditioning and more! Soccer enhances focus, aerobic capacity, team work and cardiovascular health. I am so excited to share this time with your students! Students should wear athletic clothing and closed toed sneakers on class days. Students are invited to bring their own soccer ball on Mondays, which they can leave with Ms. Smith for the semester and then have returned at the end of the course; or students can bring each Monday. Learn a new sport all while enhancing fitness and having fun! If you already play soccer or have participated in the past; join the fun for some extra practice! Be sure to sign up early so you don’t miss out!
Super Science Studio
Come join us for an exciting exploration into the world of STEAM! We will dive into science concepts through experimentation and creativity! Each week the students will investigate different science themes through art projects, science experiments and a themed snack. Be ready for hands on, messy fun as we expand our knowledge of the world around us! We can’t wait to learn with you!**Price includes all materials and themed snacks.
The Clay Cottage
Welcome to The Clay Cottage, where your imagination comes to life! In this exciting class, you’ll have the chance to create amazing crafts using air dry or baked clay. Whether you want to make colorful earrings, magnets, cute trinkets, or fantastic figurines, the possibilities are endless! Join us for a fun-filled adventure as we learn new techniques and let our creativity shine. You’ll get to shape, mold, and paint your creations, taking home special treasures that you made all by yourself. Get ready to unleash your inner artist and have a blast in The Clay Cottage!
Weaving 101
Weaving 101 will introduce your child to the world of weaving. Each week they will work on a weaving project. Weaving has so many benefits for children. It helps with eye hand coordination, fine motor skills and is very relaxing and reduces stress. In addition to these, your child will get to use their creativity to plan their weaving piece
